Education for all in Kenya

This is the home page of the EFATP-KENYA Education for all organization. Here you will find A unique programe that brings significant changes to the poor and needy children and families from destitute areas within Kenya.

Many thousands of Kenyan families have little or no means of income and therefore cannot qualify for free(?) education as the main criteria for getting that education is that they MUST provide their own school uniforms. This is a ludicrous situation as many live on half a cup of porridge a day!

"We believe that success is not determined by age but by action. Our generation holds the power to create a future where children across the globe can share equal access to quality education." **************************************************************************************************************

From Blog Entry 11/13/09

....The impact EFATP has in the community is far-reaching. It is not uncommon for us to receive requests from Students, Parents or Youth who desire sponsorship from EFATP Kenya. One such letter was handed to our offices this past weekend. Here is the text:

To the Office of  EFATP Kenya:
Dear Madam, I am a form two student at anointed secondary school in Korogocho ,hardworking ,disciplined ,self respected and motivated have been having problems with paying my schools fees since my father died and I was left under responsibility of my mother who at this time does not have a job to pay my school fees. Despite that she has been struggling hard to assist people with household duties so as to feed and educate us. Because of this, sometimes I have been forced to stay out of school so as to assist my mother with some of the duties e.g. washing dishes, clothes or baby seating to raise my fees. I know if a am considered for The Radiant bursary .I will perform better than l am now, since I will spend more time at school. Your attention and consideration will be highly appreciated Madam. Thanks.

You can help us respond positively to request from needy youths and students like this. Please give to the EFATP Kenya your kshs.100, 200, 500, 1000 counts. This girl could join the other EFATP Kenya-sponsored students in receiving a quality education and finish her secondary studies to help improve her future and siblings.

~ Kofi Anan -UN Secretary General-

JUDITH OUMA: Dandora secondary school-EFATP scholarship programme has helped me to pay my school fees at Dandora secondary school .My father irons people's cloth and Roast maize to earn money and provide for our family needs. My mother is jobless .My two big sisters and a brother were not able to continue with the education because of lack of school fees despite having performed well in kcpe.for now  I am the only one who is blessed to be in high school.EFATP has made me fulfill my dreams of completing my high school Education.

EDUCATE TO CREATE CHANGE!To instigate change, and to bring hope to those in need,a group of volunteers set out to provide by fund raising , sponsorships and corporate involvement the means to raise uniforms and other neccessary things such as teachers, materials, furnitures. The results have been outstanding and great progress has ,as you will read, been made.

However the work must continue with even greater vigour if the targets and aims are to be fully implemented.

I came across the website for EFATP Kenya Foundation, an organization that was founded 5 years ago to help children in Kenya get access education to change their lives. It really inspired me to help. I thought that you might be interested in the work they are doing and would want to help too.

You can check it out at www.efatpkenya.org or visit their facebook page at education for all trust programmes

If you are sponsoring or attending a party or a conference, if you own a business where people gather, or if you are having a get together with friends or family, please consider distributing our brochure to promote the awareness of EFATP Programmes.

If you have a website, please consider linking it to ours, so that our vision can be shared as broadly as possible. A little help goes a long way. Thank you!
